Harun Ng'ang'a Mwangi ("we") runs Personal Budget Tracker and is the data controller for the personal data described here, meaning we decide how and why it is used.

What we collect and why

• Account details (name, email, login credentials or Google sign-in) — to create your account and sign you in (contract).
• Budget data (income, expenses, categories, notes) — to provide the Service and sync it to your devices and invited family members (contract).
• Sharing details (invite codes, emails of people you share with) — to run family sharing (contract).
• Usage and device data (whether the app is installed, last active time, IP address, browser/device type) — to keep the Service secure, prevent fraud and improve it (legitimate interests).
• Support messages — to answer your questions (legitimate interests).

We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

• Service providers that host and run the app (cloud hosting, database and sign-in).
• Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of the product, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
• Family members you invite, who can see and edit the budget you share.
• Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where needed.
• Authorities, where required by law.

Some providers may process data outside Kenya; we use providers with appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, or it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it, except where the law requires us to keep records.

Your rights

Under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 (and similar laws where you live), you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, object to or restrict its use, and withdraw consent. You can also complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner. Email ngangadeactuary@gmail.com; we reply within one month.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted so each account can reach only its own budget and budgets shared with it.

Cookies and local storage

We use only essential browser storage to keep you signed in and remember app settings. We do not use analytics or marketing cookies.
